We stepped back in time and had a day of fun at our fete

You could have been mistaken for thinking you were in 1943 rather than 2013 at The Terrace’s recent fete, thanks to the appearance of a dozen vintage cars and motor bikes and some fabulous singing from the Usherettes.

The sun shone and visitors packed the grounds, looking at the stalls and buying some of the delicious cakes that were on sale.

Manager, Nicola Wilkins, said: “It was a great day and our residents are still talking about it. They loved the old vehicles, particularly an old Austin truck, which, together with the Usherettes who were dressed up in army uniform, brought back many happy memories.

“We had lots of children visiting and they loved our special guest Mr P, the miniature pony, who was giving rides on the lawn. The parents also enjoyed themselves looking at the pop-up art gallery created by the McKenzie Thorpe Gallery and buying handbags, scarves, clothes and gifts in aid of Cancer Research.”

We are now busily planning our next event and we will keep you informed so you can join in the fun.
