The recent snow may have looked pretty, although it presented some new challenges to making sure everyone was in the right place at the right time. But the team rallied round and it had been business as usual at Jubilee House.
Gráinne Wokes said: “I was very proud of the team, who were determined that all our usual activities would take place, whatever the snow threw at us!
“We had six team members, who live locally, who put themselves on call for the weekend. Our chef, Mary Culley, came in on Saturday, having worked for the previous five days, as the weekend chef couldn’t make it through the snow. Mary certainly went the extra mile, trudging through the snow to the home and then cooking for the residents.”
Our deputy manager Guy Chappelle, along with support team worker Kierran Fergusson, cleared the snow on the drive and in the car park with shovels and then put down several bags of grit so that team members and relatives leaving the home could get in and out from the main road safely.
Gráinne said: “All of our team made a special effort, despite the roads being difficult and some of the public transport systems delayed. Some team members had made arrangements to stay in the home if necessary – now that would have been a fun sleep over!”
