Talking turkey

Residents at Care UK’s Catherine Court home enjoyed an early Christmas lunch thanks to students at Buckinghamshire New University, who invited them to the university in Queen Alexandra Road for a festive treat.

The students served lunch, spent time talking to residents and then entertained their visitors with some carols. Customer Relations Manager Pauline Delpoio said: “We all enjoyed our helpings of roast potatoes, turkey and Brussels sprouts, followed by Christmas pudding.

"It is a fantastic gesture by the university and a lovely way for our residents to interact with young people, as well as get themselves in the Christmas spirit."

The lunch was organised by Bucks New University's Students' Union. Alice Dewsnap, Volunteering and Societies Coordinator said: "It’s a great opportunity for the students to give back to their community before heading home for their own Christmas celebrations.

“We’re so happy that the residents and staff from Catherine Court could join us this year, and we’re looking forward to visiting them for lunch in 2013.”
