Residents at Care UK’s Ventress Hall residential care home are planning to celebrate Christmas with music, song and dance as they welcome entertainers and carollers into their home and plan their own talent contest.
On Monday 17th December the residents will welcome a troupe of three young performers to the home in Trinity Road. Activities Coordinator Sarah Waggitt said: “The girls are a hit with the residents. They came and did a majorette-type show for us in the summer and now they are coming back in their Santa outfits to perform a Christmas show for us with lots of favourite seasonal songs.
“Everyone is really looking forward to it and the residents will have a sing-along at the drop of a hat, especially when it comes to Christmas.”
The residents will get a second chance to sing-along later that day when they welcome the Darlington Girl Guides. Sarah said: “The girls come every year. They look very smart in their uniforms and many of the residents have been Guides or have had daughters and grand-daughters who have been Guides so they have a lot to chat about.”
And with all that practice, the resident and team will be ready for their own talent show on Friday 21st December. Sarah said: “Everyone is already practising for ‘Ventress Hall has Talent’. We have singers, dancers, a body popper and a guitarist signed up already. It should certainly be a night to remember!”
