The Ventress Hall team are always looking for new ways to raise funds for charity – and found a tasty way inspire their latest donation.
Care Assistant Jackie Lambert, is a VW camper van fan who regularly meets up with like-minded friends at rallies. At the recent North East VW club meet, held in Redcar, each of the group baked cakes to be sold at the festival, with some of the larger cakes put in a raffle.
One of the cakes to take pride of place was a large cake in the shape of the distinctive Volkwagen logo, baked by Ventress Hall Head Chef Dave Park and his team.
The raffle was such a success it raised £290 for Zoe’s Place baby hospice in Middlesbrough.
Jackie said “A couple of years ago we organised an Easter egg drive to provide the hospice with eggs to give out or use in tombola’s. With a police escort, a lot of the camper vans drove up to the hospice to deliver the eggs. Everyone was delighted to see the vans and receive the eggs, and we were given a tour around.
“We were so impressed by what we saw, and they deserve all the help they can get, so ever since we have tried to find new ways of raising funds for them each time we meet.”
A further £170 was raised when Jackie’s friend Richie shaved off his beard.
