Residents and staff celebrated the Queen’s diamond jubilee with a week of special activities and trips.
The packed programme was put together at our resident and relative’s meeting which resulted in brilliant suggestions from our residents on how we could celebrate the Jubilee.
Relatives planted flower beds with Red, Blue and White flowers outside a resident’s window.
We had an outing to Balmoral Castle, a special shrub planting and we made a plaque with the Union Jack on it.
A group of residents went to the beach to get stones which we then decorated.
We also made special Union Jack cakes for our tea party which was a great success. Other activities included making posters of the Queen and the Royal Family and we planted strawberries for our Queen’s tea parties.
There was a slide show about the Queen’s life on the big screen, a Queen’s word search, a trip to Queen’s rose park, royal quizzes and a special session of Scrabble with 10 extra points for any royal word.
We held a garden party and barbeque – we even made our own home made Union Jack soap which we sold at the garden party along with flowers and herbs from our garden.
Lotte and Gosia our Activities Organisers said: “The residents thoroughly enjoyed themselves and it has been a wonderful week full of joy for all of us.”
