Jubilee fever grips Station House

No one could accuse residents and staff at Station House of not throwing themselves whole heartedly into the Queen’s diamond jubilee celebrations.

We had a fun filled month of activities which included a commemorative tree planting on June 1st  with special quests Edward Timpson MP , Rev Steve Clapham and Wistaston Green school whose year two pupils created  a striking textile collage for our reception area.

Families of residents and some local businesses  were also invited and after a brief service and refreshments each child   received a goodie bag containing a commemorative mug , sweets and a jubilee card.

Other activities included reminiscing about the last 60 years, remembering everything from food prices  to the Royal Family and how we celebrate our jubilees.

Residents made a card for the Queen, which was sent to Buckingham Palace.

There was a colouring competition for families , staff and residents with  prizes for the winners  .

Our active living co-ordinator Paula Chesworth made a royal guard, beefeater and a Care UK  pearly queen with residents and families.

Hope House Charity shop lent us an outfit  and BHS  lent us a manikin  which we  dressed up as the Queen for our display. Bunting and the British flag were on display and each resident   received a card of the special day as a keepsake.

A  Jubilee party was held on Sunday 3rd June with quest entertainer Robert Burton accordionist / singer.
