Flushed with the success of our pantomime, the team at Darlington Court is planning a murder mystery to wow audiences this summer and the biggest mystery is the ending, as even the cast won’t find out who the murderer is until just before the curtain falls.
Activities Coordinator and amateur playwright Helene Bull has created a shady bunch of characters, to be played by the care home’s staff, for her latest offering ‘Murder in Montpellier’ or ‘the Garcon Avec Un Problem’.
The story, set in London’s East End and France, revolves around a death, a life insurance pay-out and some strange goings on when a body is discovered in Montpellier and Helene, whose character reveals the murderer, is keeping her final speech hidden from the rest of the 10-player cast.
Helene said: “We played our pantomime to packed audiences and we hope this will be the same. If it is successful, we are hoping to take it on tour to some local halls and homes.”
The play will premiere to Darlington Court’s residents and their relatives on Thursday July 26th and a public performance will take place at the home, inThe Leas, off Station Road in Rustington, on Friday 27th July at 3pm. There will be a barbecue and an accordionist to keep people in the French spirit after the performance.
Home manager Linda Clements said: “I am so proud of my team. Not only do they keep coming up with creative activities for our residents but they are determined to keep the whole community entertained!”
