Uni students put on a festive treat for Catherine Court residents

Home news

Big-hearted students at Buckinghamshire New University put on Christmas dinner with all the trimmings for OAPs at Catherine Court.

A total of 15 elderly people from Catherine Court Nursing Home in High Wycombe and Abbeyfield House sheltered housing in Wendover enjoyed a turkey dinner followed by Christmas pudding hosted by Bucks Students' Union, in Queen Alexandra Road, High Wycombe.

11 students volunteered and helped out by serving the meals, chatting with the visitors and singing Christmas carols.

Activities Manager Pauline Delpoio, of Catherine Court Nursing Home, in Cressex Road, said the residents had felt 'really at home'.

She added: "We all really enjoyed ourselves and we would like to thank everyone again for such a lovely afternoon. All the students were so kind and the residents felt really at home."

Alice Dewsnap, Volunteering Coordinator at Bucks Students’ Union, said: “We’re pleased the elderly residents enjoyed getting into the festive spirit at Bucks New University. It was a rewarding day for all concerned.”
