Laurel Dene care home has won an award for its beautiful and welcoming environment.
Care UK provides residential care for more than 5,000 people in 88 homes across England and Scotland and the Laurel Dene home beat tough competition to be named its Residential Environment of the Year 2011.
The home, set in beautiful landscaped grounds with safe and accessible gardens, has 99 bedrooms and is home to older people, some of who have dementia. It has the coveted ‘Excellent’ rating from the Care Quality Commission and provides nursing as well as residential care.
Richard Pearman, Care UK’s Business Development Director, said: “Visiting Laurel Dene is always a pleasure. It is managed with the care and attention of a prized personal possession and one cannot help but feel that it is a home that is well-loved and cared for.
“Whether it is the building fabric, the grounds or the care that is given to make the spaces available to the residents interesting and enjoyable, the focus of the staff is always clear. Laurel Dene remains a show home, a standard which can only be achieved by the whole team sharing an ethos of putting the resident at the heart of everything they do.”
Laurel Dene Manager Kathy Harman said: “I have a wonderful, committed team, who work hard and are dedicated to fulfilling the residents’ lives by ensuring their individual likes, dislikes, interests and hobbies are catered for.
‘We are lucky to be in such a beautiful environment - the team has worked hard to raise our standards year on year and this award is a tribute to them.”
