Weybridge residents are invited to take a break from the strain of Christmas shopping and join Father Christmas at a special festive fair at Care UK’s Norfolk House nursing home on Saturday 3rd December
The fun, at the Portmore Park Road home, runs between 2-4pm and is free and open to all. As well as lots of stalls, a tombola and a raffle, Santa Claus and his little helpers will be on hand to ensure everyone is in the Christmas spirit.
Home manager Prakash Bundun said: “We hope lots of people will come and visit us. The residents are looking forward to the event and they love seeing the younger visitors with Father Christmas.”
The fair is just the start of a season of celebration for residents and staff at the 76-bed nursing home. Prakash said: “We have entertainers booked throughout the run-up to Christmas and, at the end of December, residents are off to see a pantomime directed by a member of staff.
“Christmas is very important for us because not only is it fun, but it helps to reawaken memories and, by talking to residents about what they used to do and what they enjoy, my team are able to understand everyone’s likes and dislikes. Then they can create truly individual activity and care plans for our residents.”
Norfolk House is one of 25 former Southern Cross care homes that have transferred to Care UK. The company is one of the top five providers of residential care and the leading independent provider for health and social care in the UK.
Nationally, the company’s residential care services division now operates 88 residential care homes and has a reputation for excellence, winning several prestigious national awards in 2011 for ground-breaking dementia care, the promotion of residents’ dignity and for health and social care investment.
