“Our House” - a pioneering project to engage older residents with dementia in the life of their care home is being piloted by Lennox House.
We have joined forces with Innovations in Dementia CIC, a national community interest company that works on positive initiatives with people with dementia and fellow national care home providers MHA, to run the project for two years.
The aim is to explore questions like:
“Rachael Litherland from Innovations in Dementia said: “The Our House project resulted from previous work with care home residents who have dementia. We found an incredibly strong feeling from people about the importance of home - not just a physical place, but somewhere that you feel you belong, where you have a role and a contribution to make.”
Karen Morrison, head of service design at Care UK says: “We are delighted to be involved in this exciting new project. We are always keen to improve the quality of our care and finding additional ways to support our residents with dementia to be involved in the day to day running and decisions of their home is a very interesting idea.”
