We were one of 15 Sunderland care homes to pick up an award for the way we make an extra effort for the city’s older people.
Homes that work hard to provide a healthy, hygienic and safe environment for residents and staff were honoured at the city's annual Healthy Home awards.
Councillor Mary Smith presented representatives from the 15 homes with their awards at a ceremony at the Mayor's Parlour.
Harry Trueman, the councillor responsible for housing and public health in Sunderland, said: "The Healthy Homes awards are a valuable way of encouraging and rewarding those residential homes which achieve and maintain the highest possible standards of care.
"All the homes which have won the awards have been through stringent and regular inspections so they deserve both our congratulations and our thanks.
"We will continue working with all our partners to make sure that everyone's quality of life and standard of healthcare is the best it can be, and these awards are an important part of monitoring the success of that ongoing process."
Now in their 13th year, the Healthy Home awards are co-ordinated by Sunderland City Council and Sunderland Health Authority, to recognise the commitment and dedication of residential and nursing homes.
