Islington Mayor Councillor Barbara Smith, opened Lennox House, our new, purpose-built, 87-bed care home for older people with dementia and related conditions.
Lennox House provides state-of-the-art care and facilities for its residents. Central to our care will be the Activity Based Care approach, which aims to enable its residents to stay as independent as possible and maintain the skills important to everyday living.
Residents from the old William Martin Court residential home have already been transferred to Lennox House, and other residents from the community are starting to move in to join them.
Lennox House provides a mix of residential and nursing beds to provide care for all levels of dependency with and without dementia.
Tony Weedon, Projects Director from Care UK which will run the home, commented: “We are delighted that our investment in Lennox House is being so well received by our residents, their families and friends. We are grateful to Islington Borough Council for its continuing support, and we look forward to working closely with them to provide first class care for elderly, vulnerable citizens in the area.”
Cllr John Gilbert, Islington Council's Executive Member for Social Services, added: "Opening this home is a real achievement and great news for older Islington residents. It is the last of our care homes to be refurbished and its completion brings residential care in Islington closer to our vision for the kind of care we want for older people.”
