Sarah Daly

Home Manager

Sarah Daly

I’m a qualified Mental Health Nurse, and I was keen to join Care UK after reading about their core values of caring, passionate and teamwork, which align with my own values.

I’m passionate about delivering excellent care, and I love working as part of our committed and skilled team. We put residents and their families first and foremost in everything we do.

As a Home Manager, I believe it’s important to have effective communication skills: both written and verbal communication play a vital role. I interact with colleagues, residents, families and other stakeholders, so strong leadership skills, an ability to remain calm under pressure, clinical expertise and good decision-making skills are also key.

My favourite part of each day is getting to spend time with the residents, chatting and having a laugh. I also enjoy working with my colleagues as a team towards a goal. It’s a great feeling when we achieve it.

Every day in a care home is different and brings new challenges. It’s wonderful to see the service transform, staff develop into a cohesive team and residents be happy and content from the service you provide.

When I’m not working, I love spending time with my family and exploring the countryside, especially visiting National Trust sites.

Maria Diana Vale
Maria Diana Vale
Deputy Manager

As a registered nurse and Deputy Manager at Ladden View, my priority is to make sure residents’ safety and their quality of care remains high.

In this role, you need to be a good listener and be empathetic. It is really important to me that residents have the opportunity to enjoy life and make new friends. Nothing makes me happier than seeing people smile.

Working my way up from care assistant and then completing my nursing training has been a journey. Now, as deputy manager, I am proud of what I’ve achieved. I joined Care UK because I wanted to grow my skills and expand my experiences even further.

I relax by gaming, reading and crocheting. I also love discovering nature.

Customer Relations Manager

Working in care is in my blood as all my family works in the sector. Growing up my grandfather’s business was a care home and it’s now run by my uncle. I wanted to use the skills I learned in sales to do something that really matters. I wish to make a difference in peoples’ lives.

A Customer Relations Manager requires a huge level of empathy and resilience supporting people. I want to be on hand to guide people towards the most appropriate solution for them.

I like helping families when they are reviewing their options. Consistent communication is essential in everything we do, whether it’s with residents or families. I also enjoy having a laugh with colleagues and residents.

I’m proud to support families and residents as they choose the best path forward. It’s often the first time they are visiting a home and it can be daunting. I get to support them and guide them through this process.

When I’m not working, I focus on my health and fitness by hiking and running. I enjoy watching aviation documentaries and I’m hoping to get my private pilot’s license L soon.

Lifestyle Lead

The most important part of my role as Lifestyle Lead, is to help improve quality of life for residents. I take great pride in seeing how happy they feel when they enjoy the activities I have organised.

I have two level three diploma. One in health and social care and another in first aid. I have also had dementia training and am a dementia friend.

I was a carer for eight years but took a break from working in care before joining the team at Ladden View. I decided to join Care UK because I had heard so many great things about the organisation. In my role you need to have excellent communication skills and it helps to be creative. You need to be caring, patient, have a positive outlook and be able to work well with others. You have to be willing to go the extra mile too.

The best part of my day is being able to support residents. I feel good knowing that the activities I organise give them a sense of purpose and make them feel valid.

Working in care is hugely rewarding. A highlight for me was when I won ‘Care Worker of the Year’ in 2015 and 2016.

Outside of Ladden View I am a professional singer and love going to London to watch musicals. I’m also a big Disney fan and visit Disney theme parks when I can.

Business Administrator

As a Business Administrator, every day is different. You need to be organised so that everyone in the team can carry out their roles effectively. I also think you need to be patient, friendly and approachable.

For me, deciding to work in care has been a real career highlight and I was previously a home administrator at another care organisation. I chose to join Care UK for its values and for its reputation as a great provider to work for.

Chatting and getting to know residents better is one of the best parts of the day. I always feel proud when I see everyone happy and smiling because it means everything is running smoothly.

I like to spend my free time with family and friends, as well as walking my dog in the countryside and at the seaside.

Head Housekeeper

Ladden View is a brand-new home, so it is a privilege to be Head Housekeeper. I was also able to help in the early stages of its development, which was a real career highlight.

In my role, you need attention to detail. But you also need to be kind and considerate of other people’s space because for residents, this is their home. I feel proud that we can give residents an exceptionally clean environment to live in and enjoy.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my dog and taking them to agility classes.

Maintenance

As Maintenance Manager, it is my responsibility to look out for the health and safety of everyone at Ladden View.

I have 25 years of experience in maintenance and repairs and previously worked in maintenance for another care provider. I chose to join Care UK because of its well-established reputation.

In my role you definitely need to be a fast thinker but also be calm in any situation. I was able to put my skills into action when I saved my old workplace from a potential fire. It just shows you have to think on your feet.

I really enjoy being part of a team and contributing to the smooth running of the home. It gives me great satisfaction knowing that I have helped and have improved things in some way.

I am a big Formula One fan and enjoy gaming and spending time gardening.

Receptionist

Being the first point of contact at Ladden View, it is so important to create a positive and professional impression.

I’ve had previous experience being a receptionist and worked for a busy media agency. In this role, you need to be a real people person and be willing to help both colleagues and visitors.

You also need to be organised and have what I call, good telephone ethics. Multi-tasking skills are essential too, as is being organised and respectful of confidentiality.

Since joining Ladden View, one of my favourite parts of the day is being able to talk to and get to know residents and their relatives.

In my spare time, I love to dance, and I was an actor and dance captain in the first UK tour of the musical Miss Saigon. It was a wonderful experience and a real highlight for me. I also really enjoy puzzle and memory games, as well as shopping.

Bane
Bane
Canine Relations Manager

I’m Bane and I’m the Canine Relations Manager at Ladden View and it’s up to me to make everyone happy. My human is Sarah, the Home Manager.

I’ve had lots of important training already and I can sit, lie down and give you a high five. Sarah says I like to be made a fuss of, but it’s not my fault I’m such a good boy that everyone wants to play with me.

Every day is the best day. I always do a meet and greet in the morning, residents like to know I’m here and I like to know what’s going on.

I might look pretty big already but I’m still a youngster and I love playing chase and going on long country walks to burn off steam. I like catching balls too.

I really enjoyed having my photo taken and getting involved in the photo shoot for Ladden View.
