Residents at a care home in Chingford enjoyed a cracking Easter afternoon with a visit from a local cadet squadron.
Care UK’s Ivy Grove, on Hatch Lane, welcomed cadets from local squadron, Air Cadet unit 27F Chingford ATC, for an afternoon of Easter crafts and games.
Spending the afternoon in true Easter fashion, the residents joined forces with the cadets for an afternoon enjoying Easter chocolate while playing traditional board games, including chess, draughts and card games.
Alexander Bragg, General Manager at Ivy Grove, said: “We love celebrating Easter at Ivy Grove, and always enjoy welcoming the cadets who have formed heart-warming relationships with the residents on their regular visits to the home.
“Intergenerational relationships have many benefits for older people, from offering an increased sense of purpose, to providing an opportunity to reminisce about their younger years. Everyone loved painting their eggs, and we hope our friends at 27F Chingford ATC enjoy tucking into their chocolate treats over the Easter holidays!”
Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, Ivy Grove incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities. The layout of the building has been configured to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities and encourage social interaction among residents.
