A care home in Harrow welcomed the local community and Mayor for an evening of live entertainment.
Care UK’s Buchanan Court on Sudbury Hill, hit the right note for National Piano Day, after welcoming the local Mayor, Councillor Ramji Chauhan, to join the residents and their families for an evening of live musical performances.
The special event saw residents, relatives and the community dress to impress for a night of decade-spanning performances from local artists including Nick Dwyer Operatic singer.
Guests to the event were treated to canapes, prosecco and cocktails, prepared by the home’s Head Chef, to enjoy throughout the evening.
Commenting on the afternoon, resident Sylvia Buckingham, said: “It was lovely to have a conversation with the mayor and I really enjoyed listening to the music.”
Esther Adams, Home Manager at Buchanan Court, said: “We had a brilliant time welcoming the local community to Buchanan Court for our gala event.
“Music plays a key part in life here at the home, and we have seen first-hand the incredible benefits that music and the arts can have for those living with dementia, whether that’s aiding reminiscence or boosting someone’s mood.
“Music is unifying, and to see the local community, residents and their relatives enjoying themselves is truly fantastic. I’d like to say a huge thank you to the team and performers, Councilor Ramji Chauhan, and everyone who made this night happen – we couldn’t have done this without you.”
Buchanan Court provides full-time residential and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. Designed to enable its residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the care home has its very own bar and hair salon, and there is plenty of space both in and outdoors for relaxation and recreation.
