Whitstable care home thanks local community for their support

Home news

Whitstable care home thanks local community for their supportA care home in Whitstable has thanked those who have gone the extra mile to support residents throughout the coronavirus pandemic, from the members of the community to its dedicated team members.

Care UK’s Harrier Lodge, on Thanet Way, has expressed its gratitude for the consideration and generosity shown by the people of Whitstable over the past couple of months.

From volunteering, to delivering messages and artwork to brighten everyone’s day, individuals and organisations have pulled together to support the older members of the community, and Care UK homes across the country have been overwhelmed by the kind gestures of local people.

Harrier Lodge was inundated with support, receiving special artworks from pupils at Joy Lane Primary School and surprise visits from four-legged friends, including dogs Edie and Scully. Residents were also sent flowers on a regular basis by the home’s local Aldi branch, while Dunelm in Canterbury donated 60 scrub bags for the team.

Whether it’s baking for a resident’s birthday, keeping the morale up through creative, team members at Harrier Lodge have also been praised for their unwavering dedication and relentless efforts over the past few months.

Diane Collins, home manager at Harrier Lodge, said: “We want to thank everyone in Whitstable for their continued kindness throughout this challenging time.

“Here at Harrier Lodge, we play an active role in our community, and it’s been overwhelming to see how many people have reached out to support us in the last couple of months.

“Both residents and team members are looking forward to welcoming back local people into Harrier Lodge to say thank you when we are able.”

Harrier Lodge is a purpose-built care home which has been designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence. The home provides full-time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 65 older people in Whitstable, and incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities, including its own cinema, hairdressing salon and café.
