Care UK is the top-rated provider in Scotland

We are proud to be the top-rated private care provider in Scotland, with 100% of our homes achieving Very Good or Good ratings according to The Care Inspectorate.

What is the The Care Inspectorate?

The Care Inspectorate is the body that inspects care services in Scotland. It looks at how care is provided and supports improvements to drive up standards.

During inspections, five key questions are considered by the Care Inspectorate, and a score from 1 to 6 is given for each question. In the six-point scale, 1 is unsatisfactory and 6 is excellent.

The key questions are:

  • How well do we support people's wellbeing?
  • How good is our leadership?
  • How good is our staff team?
  • How good is our setting?
  • How well is care and support planned?

The teams in our seven Care UK care homes in Scotland work hard to provide high-quality care for older people, and we are proud to have achieved ratings of either Good (4) or Very Good (5) overall in each home and across every key question.

“We work closely with the Care Inspectorate to ensure that our homes in Scotland provide a high standard of care,” said James Frewin, Care UK’s Head of Regulatory Assurance. “Our teams work hard to ensure they provide each and every resident with the best care possible so that individuals are able to live their best and most fulfilling life.”

Regulation and inspection by the Care Inspectorate helps us to demonstrate that we really are ‘Trusted to care'.

Rachel HarveyCare UK’s Care, Quality and Governance Director

Our home colleagues work with our senior quality and governance teams, as well as the Care Inspectorate, local authorities, residents and their families to ensure we consistently and reliably provide compassionate and dignified care to the highest standard.

“We understand that care is dynamic. That means what is considered quality today might not be good enough tomorrow, so we’re consistently reviewing the care we provide,” says Rachel Harvey, Care UK’s Care, Quality and Governance Director. “We are guided by feedback from residents and their families to help us shape what we do and to make improvements where they’re needed.”
