Care UK shortlisted for record breaking number of awards

Colleagues across Care UK are celebrating after being shortlisted in eleven categories at the Stars of Social Care Awards, the most the company has ever been shortlisted in at the awards.

The shortlistings are as follows:

  • Learning & Development Award – Care UK’s Future Leadership Programme
  • Exceptional Care Home Nurse Award - Jonsaba Ceesay, Bourley Grange
  • Great Marketeer Award - VE Day
  • Recruitment & Retention Award - Care UK's Open Doors
  • Care Home Nutrition Award - Oliver Jackson, Long Stone Manor
  • Inspirational Care Home Worker Award - Agata Francuz, Newbury Grove
  • Inspirational Care Home Manager Award - Sara Barbosa, Invicta Court
  • Awesome Ancillary Worker Award - Brian Thornton, Invicta Court
  • Dementia Specialist Award - Jason Duffin, Priors House
  • Care Home Design Award - Long Stone Manor
  • Joy Maker Award - Tiffany Thompson, Perry Manor

The Future Leadership Programme is up for the Learning and Development Award, shortlisted due to the programme going above and beyond a traditional training course.

Since launching in 2020, the programme has had numerous positive outcomes for Care UK, including boosting internal promotions, reducing turnover, improving performance and increasing colleague satisfaction.

Care UK’s VE Day campaign has been shortlisted for the Great Marketeer award after its successful coverage across both local and national news. The 80th anniversary of VE Day was commemorated with events in over 150 homes. Events included 1940s-themed street parties, live music, traditional games, and wartime food.

Not only did BBC Breakfast broadcast live from Heathlands House care home in Cambridge on the anniversary itself, but residents from across Care UK were on This Mornings’ sofa for a special commemorative tea party.

The Open Doors Scheme, developed to provide students with a two-hour employer encounter in a Care UK care home, is shortlisted for the Recruitment & Retention Award.

Open Doors offers students the chance to gain insight and work experience at Care UK. As an industry, the care sector saw the largest decline in interest for careers and work experience for young people in 2024 (Unifrog research). Open Doors aims to counter this trend by inspiring young people about the varied and fulfilling careers available in the care sector, thereby building a pipeline of engaged young people for Care UK’s recruitment team to draw from.

These awards are a testament to the hard work of all those across Care UK, and the exciting awards ceremony will take place on 13th June at the Leonardo Royal London St Paul’s.
