Many of our teams are trained to provide support to people with nursing needs in addition to a dementia diagnosis

At Care UK, our highly experienced nursing teams support people living with dementia to continue living as active and fulfilled a life as possible.

Dementia is a progressive condition, so the symptoms change and worsen over time, but many of our care homes are designed to meet higher levels of need through nursing dementia care.

Who is nursing dementia care for?

People who have complex medical needs or who are living with later-stage dementia often experience physical changes that mean they need more support. In a nursing dementia home, nurses will be on hand 24 hours a day to provide first class, tailored care.

Do people living with dementia need nursing care?

Not everyone who is living with dementia will need nursing care, but if your loved one has additional physical needs, our teams can provide them with the nursing care they need.

The progressive nature of dementia also means their needs could change over time. When seeking care for a loved one, it’s always worth thinking about the future. A care home that offers nursing dementia care will be able to look after your loved one even if their needs change. That means they can continue living in the same place, receiving care from people they trust.

How do nurses care for people living with dementia

Our experienced clinical teams provide expert care for people living with a range of complex medical needs, including the different types of dementia

Dementia affects different people in different ways, so our clinical teams take a person-centred approach to your loved one’s care, tailoring every aspect of their support to their individual needs.

Every colleague receives our experiential dementia training, created in partnership with the University of Worcester, to develop their skills and understanding of the condition by showing them what it’s like to live with dementia. Our Dementia Champions receive extra training that they pass on to colleagues in each home to ensure all our teams are working to the highest standards.

Our homes also offer Namaste care, which is tailored for people living with advanced dementia. These sessions involve special one-to-one time where trained practitioners engage residents through their senses, with music therapy, hand massages and relaxing, aromatic scents.
